FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is Cerakote?

Cerakote is a thin, polymer ceramic composite coating applied to various materials like metal, plastic, and wood to enhance performance and durability. It significantly improves resistance to abrasion, corrosion, and chemicals, while also adding a protective and aesthetic finish. The coating is applied by cleaning the surface, spraying on several thin layers, and then oven curing it to harden.

Is Cerakote durable?

Cerakote is extremely durable and is known for its high resistance to abrasion, corrosion, chemicals, and impact, making it more resilient than many other coatings like bluing, anodizing, or traditional paint. However, Cerakote is not indestructible and will show wear over time with heavy use, especially on high-friction areas.

What are the benefits of Cerakote?

The benefits of Cerakote include enhanced durability, corrosion and chemical resistance, and a wide range of customization options for aesthetics. It provides a hard, wear resistant, and waterproof finish that can also be hydrophobic, making surfaces easier to clean. Its thin application adds minimal weight and it performs well across a wide range of temperatures.

How long does the cerakote process take?

Standard projects typically take 7-14 business days to complete. Complex patterns or full firearms with multiple parts may take 14-28 days. Rush services are available for an additional fee, with turnaround times of 4-7 business days.

Do I need to disassemble my firearm before sending it in?

While we offer disassembly/reassembly services for an additional fee, we recommend sending your firearm disassembled if possible. This can reduce costs and turnaround time. Please ensure all firearms are unloaded and safe before shipping.

Can Cerakote be applied to my plastic or polymer parts?

Yes, Cerakote can be applied to polymer/plastic components. We use specialized preparation techniques and Cerakote formulations designed specifically for non-metal surfaces to ensure proper adhesion and durability. We however cannot apply to any Rubber substrates.

Is there any warranty on Cerakote applications?

We stand behind our work with a 1-year warranty against defects in application. This covers flaking, peeling, or unusual wear under normal use conditions. The warranty does not cover damage from abuse, neglect, or improper care.

Do you have discounts for military/LEO?

Yes, we offer a 10% discount for active duty military, veterans, law enforcement officers AND we even extend it to our teachers and healthcare workers! Please contact us directly for your unique discount code before ordering.
